ABOUT

Autobiography

I am  Miss DJ Kollapse.

Starting my musical life in 1998 taking piano lessons from Ms.Myra Hicks Davis, and performing in various recitals. Attending the Boy's and Girls Club in the Early 2000's, under the instruction of an anonymous music tacher, I tried the harp, learned how to blow through an instrument and make music, and started to geet interested in ALL types of musical instruments. Owning my own guitar, I started to teach myself to play, but my interest flew somewhere else. Joining dance teams in middle school, I was always burning c.d.'s and ready to dance to all types of songs, even The Pack.

One day, I grew tired of hearing the same old "I wish the radio would stop playing the same Music!", and that is where i began. My goal to control music and own my own radio Company. That's where DJing began. In middle school I went from radio DJ to making beats, until ninth grade year, deciding that's not enough, I decided move on to mixing songs for mixtapes and Top 40 Music. My first Major project was 1st semester of my 10th grade year; in which, I mixed a song for the Austin East High School Dance Co. Performance., where I also had the pleasure of dancing in!

Moving on with my DJ life, I am staring to notice that the party/club scene is where I want to be. Being another body on the dance floor is not enough, I'm ready to move on to the club/party scence and controlling the music in which allows people to have a great time!

Age 14 marked the pivotal time in my life in which I decided to dive into the world of Disk Jockeying. I began the chase of this dream. At the age of 16, I delivered my first gig at Cessali Fournier's graduation cookout. After that, the gigs came rolling in, from a $40 house party to eventually high paying wedding receptions and other affairs. Currently enrolled at Fisk University, I plan to take my skills as far as they can go. I am a Business major with a minor in film.  A few weeks after stepping foot on the campus as a freshman (class of 2016), I won the Battle of The  DJs and the right to be called The DJ of The Freshman Class. I am also currently working at WFSK 88.1 smooth jazz radio, starting as an intern for 4 weeks then moving into a work-study paid job.

My musical influence comes from my father Alex Ragland. He's always making beats by drumming on his STEERING WHEEL, and tapping on anything around! He even bought a drum set, which WILL be put into affect with the sticks in MY hand! In fact; my first basic drum machine (originally sold for for ages 10 and up), for designing beats was given to me by my dad. Going beyond music, I've discovered the VJ (video jockey) world! Producing videos on youtube, myspace and facebook, I understand anything is possible! Not knowing where the future will take me, I will always have music in my heart, therefore I will forver be Miss DJ kOllAPSE, and the dream of being the owner of a Radio Show & Co. will be met!
